Hundred Acre: Milwaukee, WI
Green infrastructure, empowerment, and supply chain resilience.

Hundred Acre is a unique urban farm providing a rapid response solution to food insecurity in the heart of Milwaukee. Workforce development and student apprenticeship programs are integrated to grow hyperlocal fresh herbs and greens at Century City on the city’s north side.
Hundred Acre is proud to foster dedicated workforce development and hands-on food tech education—with the vision of creating a more resilient supply chain supporting social determinants of health. Their 5,000 sqft controlled environment system features vertical hydroponics with no pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs, and currently produces basil and spring mix.
“Our basil is aromatic and therapeutic,” says lead grower Nikeisha Riseling, “All parts of the holy basil plant act as an adaptogen—a natural substance that helps your body adapt to stress. It contains vitamin A and C, Calcium, Zinc, and Iron.”
“Our spring mix is bitter, delicate, and crisp,” Riseling says, “A mixture of Red Oakleaf, Green Sweet Crisp, Red incised, and green star lettuces, with crisp texture and vibrant colors, our spring mix is harvested fresh and rich in vitamins A, K, B6, and C, calcium, potassium, copper, and manganese.”
“A consortium of growers, technologists, and community partners ensures that the farm remains a sustainable local business,” says Chris, “we are excited to work with buyers like Midwest Foods to increase their opportunity to source high quality produce locally and support the community year-round!”
Why Local?
“We believe that the local choice is the right one, that the food you love to eat should align with your vales, and that everybody has the ability to make a difference,” Planet to Plate founder Chris Corkery says, “Our goals are to revitalize distressed real estate with green infrastructure, empower individuals in underserved communities, and promote supply chain resilience.”
Hyperlocal fresh basil and spring mix from Hundred Acre are available year-round!
