David Parr has been farming since he was 5 or 6 years old. His grandmother bought him a set of tools and he has been growing ever since. As his farm grew, he grew his network, and he now works with over 150 Amish and Mennonite growers. Working together, they provide high quality produce and act as stewards of the land.

“The land we manage has become more diversified over time,” says David Parr, “Looking at Google Maps—it still shows the whole farm being planted in field corn, it’s a stark contrast to how it looks now.” What changes the land affects the entire community.

Why Local?

For David and Parrfection’s network, it’s simple: “It just makes sense to try to keep stuff as close and local as possible,” says David, “It’s better for the environment and it’s powerful for people to know where their food comes from.”
