Chicago Indoor Garden has been around
since 1987, and in 2002 it became the
Gorman’s family business when Brian, who
sold packaging to the previous owners,
bought the company. “We had always been
interested in healthy food as a family,” says
his daughter, Colleen Derrico, “and I think my
dad secretly always wanted to be a farmer or
have an agricultural business—but there was
a lot of learning to do!”

Why Local?
“We’re proud to be here,” says Colleen, “The Midwest is a
huge agricultural hub but products don’t necessarily stay
here—it’s important to me to be able to offer super fresh,
local products through our partnership with Midwest Foods.”
